## Getting started

How long does it take to become an agent?

Allow time for studying, your state exam, licensing, and carrier contracting. Some people move through these steps in a few weeks; others need several months. Your study schedule and state processing times affect when you can begin.

Do I need to be licensed before I apply?

You can explore the opportunity before obtaining a license. You must have the required life insurance license and complete the necessary carrier contracting before selling policies.

What does it cost to get started?

Plan for pre-licensing education, the state exam, your license application, and any required background check or fingerprints. Costs vary by state. A discounted pre-licensing course may be available; confirm the current price with us. You also need to plan for business expenses, including leads if you choose to purchase them.

Is pre-licensing training online?

Pre-licensing study is available online. Exam options and licensing requirements depend on your state. We can help you identify the next steps and the appropriate state resources.

What happens after I watch the business overview?

Complete the online video screening questions. They cover your comfort with 100% commission, your ability to fund pre-licensing training, your availability, and your plan to purchase leads or work with your warm market. Candidates who are a good fit are directed to a scheduling page to choose a one-to-one interview time.

What if I’m not ready for the costs or commission structure?

If you are not comfortable with 100% commission, cannot fund pre-licensing training, or have neither a lead budget nor a willingness to work with your warm market, we will let you know the opportunity is not a good fit at this time.

5 questions

## Income & independence

Is this an employee position?

No. This is a remote, 1099 independent contractor opportunity. You are responsible for managing your business, schedule, expenses, and taxes.

Is there a salary or guaranteed income?

No. Compensation is 100% commission. Earnings depend on issued policies, carrier compensation terms, your activity, and other factors. There is no guaranteed level of income.

How do I get paid?

Insurance carriers pay commissions directly according to their compensation agreements. Payment timing depends on policy issuance, premium collection, and carrier processing. Advance commissions can be subject to chargebacks if a policy lapses or is canceled.

Can I work part time?

You can discuss a part-time schedule during your interview. You will still need consistent time for licensing, training, prospecting, client appointments, and follow-up.

Will I have ongoing client relationships?

You may continue helping clients as their coverage needs change. Renewal commissions and any rights relating to clients or a book of business depend on your carrier and agency agreements. Review those terms before making assumptions about future income or ownership.

## Leads & client conversations

Do I have to sell insurance to family and friends?

You are not required to sell to family or friends. You need a practical prospecting plan: a budget for purchased leads or a willingness to work with your warm market. If someone you know wants help, focus on their needs and let them decide whether to move forward.

Are leads free?

Do not assume leads are free. Purchased leads are a business expense. Discuss current lead options, pricing, and any available agency support during your interview so you understand your responsibilities before committing.

Does buying leads guarantee sales?

No. A lead is an opportunity to start a conversation. Results depend on contactability, follow-up, client needs, eligibility, and your skills. Budget thoughtfully and understand that you can incur costs without making a sale.

## Training & team support

What training and support are available?

Agents can access Symmetry training, team meetings, practical tools, and guidance from experienced agents. You are expected to participate, practice, and apply what you learn. Olivia personally mentors agents who demonstrate ability and a willingness to learn.

How is The Walls Agency connected to Symmetry?

The Walls Agency is part of the Wayland Master Agency within Symmetry Financial Group. Agents work with insurance carriers through that network, with access to shared training and resources.

If I bring on another agent, do I have to train them alone?

You can discuss recruiting and agency growth with our team. We can help coordinate training and support for new agents, while clarifying your responsibilities as you build a team.
